Two Oceans Marathon week guide

07 April 2026

Two Oceans Marathon week, from 8 – 12 April, will deliver five days of activity, attracting over 30 000 athletes in the Mother City. This is a logistics guide for all things related to the World’s Most Beautiful Marathon.

The Two Oceans Marathon week programme will include the 55th edition of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, Half Marathon, trail run and the International Friendship Run.

It all kicks off tomorrow with the Expo and Race Pack collection taking place at CTICC 2.

With more than 100 exhibitors, the Expo is a one-stop-shop for runners to collect their race packs, explore the latest in running gear, tech, and equipment, stock up on race nutrition, and get the best advice on navigating their race.

Expo and race pack collection will run daily between 09:00 – 19:00 until Friday and will operate until 15:00 on Saturday for Half Marathon runners only.

On Thursday, 9 April, the Cape Town International Friendship Run – a celebration of the global running community – will once again see hundreds of visiting runners take to the streets of the Atlantic Seaboard from the DHL Stadium Forecourt, through Mouille Point and finish again in Green Point.

Race weekend will feature the two headline events.

On Saturday, 11 April, the Ultra Marathon will take runners on its iconic 56km journey through the Southern Suburbs, False Bay coastline, Chapman’s Peak, and Constantia, finishing at the foot of Table Mountain at the University of Cape Town.

The Half Marathon will close out marathon week on Sunday, 12 April with a 21,1km route through the Southern Suburbs, culminating at UCT Rugby Field.

‘Annually, marathon week attracts over 30 000 participants to this prestigious event, including more than 4 500 international runners from 98 countries in 2025 who spent over a week in Cape Town, contributing meaningfully to our local economy. As we welcome thousands of runners and visitors, we are reminded of the Two Oceans Marathon’s role in strengthening Cape Town’s position as a leading destination for sport and active lifestyle tourism, while showcasing our capability as a world-class host of major events.

‘The City is proud to open its roads to athletes of all levels, giving them the platform to truly Run Cape Town and experience the city in all its scenic glory. The City remains committed to delivering a safe, seamless, and memorable experience for all participants and spectators as we welcome the world to our city,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.
